Frequently Asked Questions

The purpose of the site is to have a directory of the Property Tax Collectors in one place for each county in Pennsylvania. An attempt is made to reflect which places they collect for i.e. County, Town/Borough/City and/or School.

We do not have specific property tax information. We've attempted to provide a directory of the collectors who do collect the current year and prior year delinquent taxes. You need to contact them for information. We are, however, familiar with how to go about obtaining information for properties. If you are not the homeowner, and are looking to have someone handle the research and ordering of tax data you may Contact us to discuss your needs and pricing.

From the Counties tab you can search by the County, Municipality or School District. If you are looking for a specific Collector you can navigate to the Collectors page and search by their name.

When you search an Agency you will see a Current Collector and a Delinquent Collector if those data have been captured. There can be a name, address, phone, email and website. If searching by a Collector you can also see the various agencies they collect for. However,in many circumstances you may not see the County name even if the Collector does collect the county tax. In order to avoid listing out each Collectors name on the County page you may see "Local Municipal Collector" instead.

You can utilize the PA Municipality Statistics website to enter the address and determine that and then return to this site to look up the contact information.

In general there is a County tax, a Township, Borough or City tax, and a School District tax. Depending on your area the County and Twp/Boro tax may be collected together on the same bill and is mostly due in the Spring. The School bill is generally a separate bill and collected later in the Fall. Please refer to your Tax Bill or Collector for specifics for your area as it can differ from the above.

In general most Collectors will require a Tax Certification fee to obtain details on the status of the taxes. At the end of each tax year the majority of the taxing authorities will turn over any unpaid (delinquent) taxes to the Tax Claim Bureau for your county or to a 3rd party collector. Those entities generally require a fee as well.
