Researching property taxes in the state of Pennsylvania requires an understanding
of who is collecting the County, Town/Borough/City, and School taxes. Depending on who
collects them then requires you to know how to contact the various collectors and
determining how to go about requesting the information and how much it will cost (for non-homeowners).
I wanted to build a directory that provides one place to look up the Tax Collector to make
life easier for those tasked with obtaining tax info. Additionally it allowed me to test
out Django to build the site so it became a hobby that also helped me out while doing my day job.
I'm continuing to add to the site and hope that it becomes a hub for those looking up
PA taxes as well as homeowners who simply need to contact their collector but are
unsure where to turn.
